There are two forms of imperfect subjunctive, which are used indistinguishably. One of the most common uses of the imperfect subjunctive is in a "si" clause or "if" clause. In such a clause it has a hypothetical meaning.

Cliente: Yo quisiera algo fuerte.

Cantinero: Whisky escocés, vodka rusa, gin tonic

Cliente: Una copa de vodka rusa, por favor.

Cantinero: ¿Qué vodka quisiera usted?

Cliente: Cincuenta gramos de vodka de trigo y agua con hielo.
